The Corinthian Club in Glasgow has won Best British Interior Design in Elle Decoration’s British Design Awards, with its interior designed by Graven Images.
Award judges described the 24 hour venue - which boasts numerous
bars, restaurants and a casino - as "Without a doubt, the city's
most dazzling spot for a stylish night out."
Last year the G1 Group's Corinthian Club underwent a multi-million
pound renovation and reopened in August 2010 with Glasgow-based
design consultancy Graven Images responsible for interior
design.
The renovation saw the building's original features restored with
lofty ceilings, intricate gold-leaf detailing and sculptural
plasterwork. The layout was re-imagined creating a surprising mix
of showpiece main halls, unique intimate rooms and breathtaking
spaces throughout the venue's five floors. On Wednesday October 5th
The Corinthian Club will, for a second time, host the official
after-party for the MOBO awards.
Now in its tenth year, The British Design Awards (BDAs), recognise
"beautiful, useful and original new work created by designers for
UK and international brands". The iconic Glasgow venue fended off
some tough competition in a public vote against Massimo Restaurant,
the Oxford Circus Topman personal shopping suite and the Sergio
Rossi Store.
Graven Images' Founding Director Ross Hunter says: "We really are
chuffed to have won this award for our interior design of The
Corinthian Club. To be honest, we're not usually ones for awards
but to be recognised among design royalty such as David Collins and
Ilse Crawford is brilliant."
